Margarida Fabregat rep el guardó que l'acredita com a Terrassenc de l'Any 2018

Margarida Fabregat, actress of our Quadre de Veus, receives the award that accredits her as Terrassenc of the Year 2018 in a proclamation ceremony held on Saturday, December 1 at the Teatre Principal of our city.

The Terrassenc of the Year award, which this year has already reached its 50th edition, annually recognizes the meritorious career of Terrassencs and Terrassencs who, from their respective activities and fields, have stood out in the city.

Margarita Fabregat, a woman of amateur theater from Terrassenc, started in the theater from a very young age. She has been a member of several theatre groups in the city, such as the 'Grup de Teatre de la Sagrada Família' or the 'Coro Vell', and for over 40 years she has been part of the theatre section of 'El Social', an activity that she also combines with her participation in the 'Grup Teatral Egarenc', and since the early 1980s she has been one of the unconditional actresses of our Quadre de Veus, with almost a hundred plays performed.

Apart from Margarida Fabregat, the jury has also recognised the work of two other fellow citizens. On the one hand, Mariona Torredemer, one of the founders and director of the Escola Crespinell for students with disabilities who has dedicated her entire career to inclusive education; and on the other hand Miqui Giménez, recognised for his work in promoting Catalan popular culture in the areas of music, dance, traditional games and children's entertainment.

The event was chaired by the president of El Social, Ricard Figueras, the mayor Alfredo Vega and the bishop of Terrassa, José Ángel Saiz Menéses. Silvia Torrente, secretary of the jury, was in charge of reading the Act of proclamation of the winners, and Josep Villagrasa made the Glosses of the winners. Miqui Gimenez, on behalf of the three awardees, was in charge of thanking the jury for the work of the award. In several of the speeches, special mention was made of two absent Terrassa residents, Josep Rull, who is imprisoned, and Lluís Puig, in exile; a fact that prompted long applause and ovations from the audience.

As a reason for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Awards, Joan Antoni Pujals, one of the founding members, received a distinction from the organizing entity.

The Àliga de Terrassa performed a dance to honor the three award winners, and the final closing was performed by the Esbart Egarenc, who entertained the audience with a spectacular dance.
